Fred Van de Walle — Artist, Zürich
Artist · Switzerland Fred Van de Walle

Fred Van de Walle (傅雷) is an artist based in Switzerland. His work — metal particle paintings on canvas, paper, wood, and ceramic — has been exhibited in China and Switzerland.

A career in deep-sea shipwreck conservation and cultural heritage — working with deteriorating materials and surfaces — produced the technical knowledge that became the foundation of metal particle painting.

Fred Van de Walle is a visual artist whose work grows from a life of exploration, material research, and intercultural exchange. Before settling in Switzerland, he spent more than two decades working internationally — from excavation sites to museums and cultural institutions across the world.

His work has been exhibited at the Chengdu Biennale and in a solo exhibition in Shenyang attended by 16,650 visitors.

His participation in the Xu Bing Satellite Exhibition Project — a global art initiative connecting artists around the world through satellite transmission — reflects the international reach of his practice.
